Last year saw excellent Speech and Drama Examination results from all students from the Beginners’ Grade right through to Diploma Levels.
Congratulations to everyone for your great achievements. The highest mark awards went to Lara Elliot, Nirosh Prabaharan, Lisara Seneviratne and Jordyn Elliot in the Junior School and to Mayank Gupta, Cheree He, Kelly Ng and Tom Wark in the Senior School.
Seven Senior Students completed their Associate Diploma and we look forward to seeing them at the I.M.E.B. Graduation on Saturday 8th April.
The winners of the Junior Club Championship last year were James Wark and Lachlan Atkins who tied for first place, while the Senior Club Championship was won by Tom Wark.
One of our drama highlights for 2016 was our end of year play productions at the Lighthouse Theatre. The Junior Play was a humorous pantomime style of ‘Cinderella’ which gave the audience plenty of scope to join in the fun, while the Seniors performed like true professionals an original musical comedy ‘Three in the Same Boat’. The students not only had a chance to explore their acting skills but were also given an opportunity to try their vocal talents. It was also a great experience for them to work with a live band. Photos from these performances can now be viewed in our Photo Archives.
Our first general drama activity for 2017 will be the Parramatta Eisteddfod which will begin on Saturday 6th May. This competition gives new students as well as experienced ones the chance to perform their work on stage in front of an adjudicator.
Our second Eisteddfod for the year is Ryde Eisteddfod which begins on Saturday 22nd July, 2017. Deadlines for entries for this Eisteddfod are Friday 21st April for paper entries, and Tuesday 2nd May for on line entries. This Eisteddfod runs on Saturdays from 1.00pm to 8.00pm, and Wednesdays from 5.00pm to 8.00 pm from Saturday 22nd July through to Saturday 2nd September.
Our Public Speaking and Theatre Sports Competition will be in Term 3 this year (date to come) and this always proves to be an entertaining and much enjoyed drama activity for students.
The written Theory Exams for all students in Speech and Drama Grades 6 and above will be held on Saturday 6th September, 2017. These will be held at the I.M.E.B. headquarters in Broadway. The Practical Speech and Drama Examinations will be held close to October through to early November.
To round off our year of exciting drama activities we have our Junior Play which will be held on Saturday 2nd December, and our Senior Play on Sunday Evening 3rd December, 2017. Mark these dates in your calendar and keep viewing the website for details about these two productions. Good luck to all students in their Drama Work for 2017 !
